Josefin Landälv

Junior Researcher / Weave Designer

Josefin is a Swedish textile designer, who relocated to London in 2008 to do a BA degree in weaving at Chelsea College of Arts. Her degree show piece Dust to Dust was made entirely out of cellulose fibre and sponsored by the Austrian TENCEL producer Lenzing. The piece was inspired by the extensive way in which the Northern Scandinavian Inuit used their valuable resource, the reindeer, with a zero waste policy. The Swedish Purveyor to the Court, Klässbols Linen Mill, started selling her design work in 2011, while the Swedish Textile Scholarship Founds (TEKO) supported her studies at Chelsea College. Earlier this year Josefin received the Cockpit Arts / Clothworkers’ Foundation Award, a bursary that aims to help young weavers start up their own business.
